Debian has announced they plan on releasing Debian 13 tomorrow (trixie).
I’m going to use this as motivation to return to working on an updated HestiaPi image (or possibly several).
My plan is to continue to support ALL HestiaPi hardware, from the crowd funding campaign over 5 years ago, to the ones that are using the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W today (and it should also work with ones people put together with other models of Raspberry Pi boards, but I am only going to test with the Zero and Zero 2 models).
This stance certainly has its challenges, especially given that OpenHAB doesn’t have any long term support, the last 2 versions don’t run on the original Pi Zero, and browsers keep taking up more and more memory for even a basic webpage. Despite this, I remain committed to putting in the work to find solutions which do not involve requiring people to choose between security updates and replacing hardware.
Please understand that this is a lot of work and I ask you grant me patience. The best way you can help more this forward will be to install the release candidates once I have them ready.
I can’t predict when I’ll have an image for people to test, but I’ll post back here as soon as it happens. Stay tuned.
